i think the best thing to do would be to supplement what we already have,
ie - boost ftoomsh up as much as possible. with all the things people want
to play around with (WWW, mud, gopher, etc) it would be good to have a decent
amount of resources to call upon (waste 8) ).

i think the prime directive of the equipment committee/equipment budget
should be to get ftoomsh up and running, and at a decent level for multiple
network connections.

also - on the modem debate: modems would be a good idea on ftoomsh, but not for
shell connections - UUCP and/or SLIP/PPP would be better, as these facilities
are harder to come by for most members, and have some interesting technical
components that some people like to fiddle with.
