It is true that Doom 2 will be out very soon...but I don't think it will take
much to convert anything made for Doom to Doom 2.
Doom 2 will have exactly the same engine as Doom, with the adition of new
weapons, new monsters and new levels.
I thought it was about time I made a contribution to this thread...
I have started to design building 4 level 4...is anyone else actually doing any
editing? The biggest problem I have found so far is getting the dimensions
of rooms and halls right....anyone feel like going round building 4 with a
tape measure?? :)
Another aspect that I don't think anyone has mentioned is that we can also put
in our own sounds...including midi background music (unfortunately the
background music doesn't work on the SGI's).
This brings me to a major issue....if we want to be able to play this on the
SGI's (which have ver 1.5b) we will have to get a registered doom.wad file.
But currently only 1.2 has been released as a registered version. There is
a hack for this wad which allows it to work with 1.5b. According to ID, there
will never be a registered version for SGI's, so do we feel justified in
pirating a wad from a registered PC version to use with the SGI's?
If anyone want info about the sizes of sprites for monsters, walls etc...
I have all the info, so just ask.
NB. I would like people to give me advice on the level I am building...so if you
have the time to see it...ask me, and I'll show you what I have done so far...
