I've never used ftoomch, so I can't tell you about that, but it's
pretty easy to set up the ppp daemon in passive mode as the login
shell of a "ppp" user, and telnet/rlogin into the machine and talk
ppp at it. You'd use the ppp mechanisms for doing host authentication
rather than the normal unix ones. You have to make sure the connection
it 8 bits wide, but it doesn't matter if various control chars are eaten
if you use an asyncmap (rlogin's ~ escape is a little harder but can be
coped with, but you may as well use 8 bit telnet).
