G'Day!

I've seen several people complain about downloads dropping out mid-term.

1. Using sz. If you are using sz, use the -e option. I don't know what
it does, but it stops errors occurring during transfers.

2. If you're using a modem speed greater than 2400 baud (ie 9600 and above),
be sure your serial port uses a 16550 compatible chip. This chip has
input and output buffering and gererally runs at the higher speeds
required when using these modems. 16450 type chips can't keep up.

3. If your 'phone line keeps dropping out after 10 or 15 mins, see if you
have any telecom touchfone 200 of similar model phones. The
memories in these phones are powered by the 'phone lines and every
10 or 15 minutes the telephone switches a capicitor into the line
to be recharged. This operation puts noise on the line which can
cause your high-speed link to drop out.

Hope this information is of general help to everyone. I'm sure there's a FAQ that coveres this.
