I don't expect you to be any less thoughtless, Ryan...

That aside, I don't think a bunch of posts to the list saying "He's a
brainless dickhead" is constructive at all. If you want, mail it to the
individual(s) concerned.

Anyway, on to Jimmy's point. I really don't think follow-up posts like

"I don't know the answer to this one"

and

"I don't really know, but someone else might"

It is not the aim of the mailing list to have useless, meaningless
posts like these. We want answers to questions. The aim is to acquire
some information/knowledge from others, and such posts have no place. If
there are no replies to a question, we can assume that no one knows or
wants to tell the answer(s).

The point is that no matter how seemingly basic the question, it will
be answered. No one has qualms with helping out newbies.Let's just
get rid of the unconstructive, uninformative posts, and we'll all
be happy.
