One is the additive set of primary colors and the other is the subtractive
set of primary colours. ie when you add red yellow and blue in paints you
get black, when you add red green and blue in light you get white. As to
which is the 'additive' set i think it it RGB but i'm not sure.

RGB is the proper set of primary colours IMO, maybe that should be In My
Perspective... So don't listen to your art teacher, just do all your art
with lights!
