Subject: Win95 Again!

Have you tried running in non-GUI mode? edit the msdos.sys file on the
bootable Win95 partition and change the GUI option to '0'. This will
rem out the invisible "win" at the end of your autoexec.bat. You can
set up a multi-boot menu, with one of them having win at the end of
your autoexec, if you like.

You now have DOS + Windows, as you would have with DOS + WFW. There isn't
that much difference between the two setups, apart from the fact that
M$ is trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes by making Win95
look like a new OS.

I have found the performance under win95's command line to have a
noticeable overhead when compared with straight DOS, but this only
occurs on the programs' startup, so does not affect performance of
DOOM etc.
