Apparently Telstra couldn't roll out the IP network quickly enough, so
Microsoft got pissed off. Existing users keep access to MSN, Microsoft
keeps all the content, and Telstra keeps the network stuff.

Don't forget tho that Telstra is supposedly entering into some sort of
deal with IBM.
