[ProgSoc] https:// a security risk?




Why is it, does anyone know, why it is that so many corporate firewalls
and internet kiosks etc etc have the SSL port blocked?  This seems
particularly stupid in light of all the port 80 stuff making it through
(except java, okay fine).

Same with SSH, but I guess that's down to ignorance.  So is it also
ignorance with https:// or is there something about this that puts it in
the same basket as telnet, ftp, running executable files, opening the
date/time control panel, and all those other UI castrations that you see?
