Re: [ProgSoc] Does anyone use IRC (other than Rob, the IRC fiend)?

I havn't recently, but every now and then I go on IRC to ask questions about uni related things... It would be nice if we had access to it from the progsoc room at least... Worst case scenario I can just ssh home and do it from there... or port forward :p

Howdy,

Just got an email from Dave Morrison who says ITD are planning on blocking access to TCP 6667-6669 (the ports commonly used for IRC). So, can I get a show of hands as to who uses IRC from the Progsoc network? Is it worth asking for the ports to be left open from one of our machines (such as Succubus or Incubus)? I think one machine is a reasonable request, but there's no point if no-one's going to use it.
