All this stuff doesn't pop out of thin air, Brian and Liz in particular have been instrumental in ensuring the whole wireless thing for ITD didn't fall on its face. Progsoc has had a hard enough time just in stopping its core systems from falling over let alone anything else.
This is that whole 'services' thing, by the way. It's not programming, and it's a massive chore. Also, it's an activity that demands physical presence... I didn't know anything about this project until I heard CK mention something about it recently. I think it's a great thing, but I can see why the burden of it is weighing on your motivation. As a general rule you don't want to commit to 'service', because it demands perpetual (thankless!) labour.
I can't help with this project, because I can't do it from home in my own time, and people aren't talking about it on the list (I don't know anything about wireless networking anyway). I bet I'm not the only person in that boat. People can make valuable contributions of research, knowledge and code from home (and overseas), but they can't do wireless support from home. That's a practical thing that's worth keeping in mind.
