The Programmers' Society is pleased to announce that ftoomsh is coming online. ftoomsh is a Sun 4/280 dedicated to the members of ProgSoc. It is currently being configured and will be accessible to members in about two weeks. ProgSoc is planning to provide:

- accounts: - with self-selected usernames - with lots of room - available to all paid-up members

- email - ProgSoc related newsgroups - A ProgSoc MUD - IRC server - Web server - ftp site - a place to do neat computery things that AREN'T assignments - and on and on

But the ProgSoc executives can't do this all on their own. We need lots of help from members interested in administering/running various aspects of the system and becoming UNIX/MUD/IRC/Web/Ftp/News/Mail wizards. We also need people with ideas and suggestions for the day to day running of ftoomsh.

To bring everyone together we are holding the first Equipment Committee meeting at 6pm on Monday, March 28. The location will be announced before the meeting. At this meeting there will be a discussion of policies for the running of ftoomsh and a call for volunteers for running the various parts of the system.

All members of ProgSoc should join our mailing list. This will keep you uptodate with current projects within the Programmers' Society and give you a chance to make your own suggestions on the way it should be run. To join the mailing list send mail with no subject to listproc@nospam.socs.uts.edu.au with a body of:
