Presumably it means to wrap-around. vi defaults (generally) to not
showing you the end of line (say, past char #80). It can be set to
just drop extra stuff onto the new line. Makes it harder to count
lines, but what do you want from a full-screen line-editor for free?

Cobol can use line numbers (on every line), or none at all. Routine
names can start with numbers (eg 000-MAIN), or not, depending on how
you feel about numbers, at a personal level. Generally you don't
even need to start in column 8 (?) anymore - it's such a versatile
language these days.

No, it doesn't. Nettiquette dictates a maximum of four lines in
a .signature. Anything else is simply a length bandwidth-wasting
declaration to the rest of the world that you have a small weeny.
