Names in our ITD accounts

Fellow ProgSoc'ers,

I asked recently whether I could change the name ["In Real Life:"] part
of my ITD account. I received answers. All said No! in varying degrees
of politeness. That's fair enough... I was just curious.

But I think I see what could be a problem. Why am I posting it here?
Cos I think some people within ITD read this mailing list. If you're not
one of those, please ignore this message.

The problem is that our student numbers are on these names. Amongst
other things, my student number gets me my ITD account (in conjuction
with my birthdate) and allows me to see my exam/assessment results at the
end of each year. But if anyone can see (and write down) my student
number, aren't these, and any other activity that requires a student
number due to privacy concerns, compromised?

I am not suggesting anyone has done this, but the possibility is there.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but if there's a
friendly ITD Staff Member around who can answer my question, it'd be much
appreciated.

Thanks,

Alister
