You may find that, process-wise, ProgSoc is NOT a forum for representing
the UTS computing community's interests. You could also find that the
University Union, who provides most of ProgSoc's funding (at least, they
*should* provide most of it) will not enjoy one of its clubs trying to be
"political" (yes, it is... really!).

For *individual* ACS users though, the responsibility for ACS lies with
the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Ms Robyn Kemmis (I didn't
tell you that :) ... but that's where *ultimate* responsibility lies.
Someone who could also help is (I'll bet) subscribed to the list...
Associate Professor John Hughes, who is Acting Assistant Vice-Chancellor
(in other words, acting as DVC Academic until someone is appointed to the
position).

Maybe you don't believe me, but the best body to deal with this is, I
believe, the Students' Association... that's what it exists for (well, one
of the reasons). You feel the University is overstepping its bounds. You
have already in place a representative body with staff who have dealt with
similar cases before. It's up to you to utilise it.

ProgSoc (or some members of it) may decide it doesn't like the SA because
of complaints brought against TFM. What should be understood is that when
one of our members brings a complaint against something, it must be
investigated. This can work in your favour, as a complaint brought by a
number of students (and maybe a Faculty Board rep, Sammy?) can have more
time devoted to it, and the assistance of Education/Research staff, in
doing things like determining how other Unis go about managing their
services, and student reps who have regular contact with those people who
are responsible for the ACS.

If you are interested, then the President of the SA, Louise Boon-Kuo, is
receiving a copy of this letter, and her address is
Louise.Boon-Kuo@nospam.uts.edu.au if any SA members wish to take this further
than ranting and raving to ProgSoc.
