Can you honestly say that the 21 things on your list are all
showstoppers for you? Here are the ones that bother me:

> 1. No 3G
> 9. No GPS
> 11. Can't transfer files to Mac/PC over Bluetooth

Haven't actually heard 11 before. Have heard that they'll fix #1
fairly promptly. #1 only bothers me in theory because I'm not
currently a 3G user, but would probably become one if I had an
iPhone with it.

These don't bother me at all:
> 2. Can't replace battery
Who cares? I've never replaced the battery on any phone -- or iPod.

> 12. No expansion slot (like, wtf?)
Get some perspective, this is a phone with 8GB of storage. You can
just, barely, buy 8GB memory cards taking the capacity of all other
phones on the market to... 8GB. If you mean use the expansion slot
for things other than storage then again I say meh.

> 13. 2MP camera when you can now get 5MP cameras.
So you can take a 5MP picture through a shitty lens with a focal
length of 3mm? 5MP is for when you have a real camera with real optics.

> 15. Talk time battery life of 5 hours? I mean c'mon!
I feel sorry for anyone you talk to for more than 5 hours a day. And
I've yet to hear a compelling reason for not just charging your phone
every night.

> well!?!
Are you? Stored video or streamed?

> 17. Lack of open OS, no 3rd Party apps allowed.
This is a legitimate embuggerance, but they're fixing it.

> 18. Locked to a single telco.
... because the telco needs to make infrastructure changes so that the
iPhone's UI can be sufficiently fantastic. Good thing. Conceivably
it could launch into the Australian market on multiple carriers
because our situation isn't as pathological as the US market.

> 19. Touchscreen UI. Tactile buttons are easier to use
You've tried, have you? My phone has a tactile keyboard and I assure
you that you couldn't possibly use it without looking and that it's
bloody painful. You would have a point if the only bits of phone UI
you use are the "answer" and "hang up" keys, but maybe the iPhone
isn't meant for such people?
