[ProgSoc] Reflective plea by a new ProgSoc member directed squarely towards the Thursday night regulars

Just when did this become the bleeding heart society?

Tom, you sound shy or sensitive. Keep up the good work and talk to people.
You have to keep talking to them for them to talk to you back. Trust comes
with an understanding that evolves (sometimes) as you get to know someone.
Until that happens, trust no-one. And get a tin foil hat.

People in ProgSoc are generally friendly. Be ready to take sarcastic
lashings at times (and return them with vigour). This is the culture of the
place. Feel free to try and change it. An asbestos suit for flame wars is
also advised. A thick skin is a pre-requisite. The trick is not to make
things personal. Some of the most stubborn people I know are in ProgSoc.
Think of it as real world training for dealing with 'interesting
personalities', if that applies to you.

You'll figure out the rest in time. Good luck and have fun.

Andi.
