There's no particular need for the exec to prepare for proxies in
advance (although it would have been nice).

Elden, assuming that you have a proxy in mind (and that proxy is willing
to wield your vote), simply post to this list that you authorise your
proxy to vote on your behalf; this public act removes any reasonable
dispute about whether the proxy appointment is legit.

In the unlikely event that the meeting's returning officer is unwilling
to count the proxy vote, then your proxy need do little more than raise
a point of order moving that the meeting to compel the returning officer
to do so.

In the very unlikely event that the returning officer refuses the
directive and/or that the meeting chair interferes with the order
motions, "no confidence" motions in the returning officer and/or chair
are the appropriate tool, but these are not pretty.

In the spectacularly improbable event that those present at a meeting
would support a clear attempt to prevent the vote of a member from being
counted then you're pretty much out of luck; no constitutional
protections could solve this problem anyway.
