Go into visual mode and select the lines, then Shift + > or Shift + <
should tabshift it all as per whatever tab settings you have defined.

Also, hitting the period key does work for multi-line indents, if
you're looking to tab a block more than once (you'll notice you lose
the selection after tabbing).
