...yeah, it does make you think about the relevance or effectiveness of
the UDHR.

But it's not like the document itself is legally-binding. It's been
ratified (in part or whole) in numerous countries, but that's all...

I think countries "ratifying" the UDHR is pointless, anyhow. I see it as
an empty, token gesture. I believe that for it to be truly effective, the
individual needs to ratify the articles against their own beliefs with
regards to how they should act towards their fellow human beings. If many
individuals do this, then these fundamental rights can be guaranteed.

So, I do have rights. Everybody has these rights. We - as individuals, not
some faceless overlords - just need to universally agree upon them.
