WHAT IS IT?

BiG Speakers, BiG Careers:  Unlike the crazy career fair meets,
the BiG Day Is an intimate opportunity to hear and meet the
leaders of Australia's business and technology organisations.
Learn successful career tips from key employers and particicate
in personalised speed networking with the companies of your
choice.  Sponsored by the ACS Foundation - the Big Day In will
launch your career.

WHY IS IT NEEDED?

One of the main problems in IT careers in Australia is so few
students actually have an understanding of what roles they can
get and what they need to be doing now to get them. The ACS
Foundation has observed there is a gap in delivering this
content to students.  We believe the BEST way for students to
get this information is to hear from the people with unbeatable
"been there done that experience". We believe in students and
believe they are ready to hear the difference between success
and mediocrity. This is why we are throwing out the textbooks
and the academic hats and bringing phenomenal speakers from
leading industry innovators to UTS's Aerial Function Centre to
talk about their career and yours too.

The content for the conference has been designed from the ground
up by students with consultation from a wide base of students,
academics, and industry professionals. The content we're
providing isn't just interesting but is going to make a real
world impact on attendee's careers.

SESSION CONTENT FOR THE DAY:

THE FUTURE BEGINS TODAY - MICROSOFT

In 5-10 years, how will people get things done at work, at home &
on the go? It's the question Microsoft's positioning itself to
answer today.  A Microsoft Australia evangelist will give some
idea of what technologies are currently emerging, what impact
they're going to have on your career & how you can help shape
the future of technology.

HOW TO GET AHEAD IN YOUR CAREER - WESTPAC

Westpac's CIO Clive Whincup & recent UTS BIT Grad Bryce Guderjahn
will be providing an overview of what it takes to get ahead in
your career. You'll hear what Bryce, a recent graduate, has been
doing to further his career + the CIO's perspective on what
Bryce is doing and how it'll help further his career. The CIO
will also provide some tips of his own for you on how to succeed
, what skills you'll need & what qualifications can help.

SOCIAL MEDIA & RECRUITMENT - DELOITTE

Social Media is BiG nowadays and now more than ever, companies
are turning to social media to advertise & recruit for their
graduate positions and internships. Deloitte will provide an
overview of how they use social media to engage with students
and how students can best & WORST engage with them.

UNI-LIFE - IBM

Most successful careers aren't built when students graduate, they
start when students with a little know-how get the leg up on
everyone else in university. They start to network, get some
valuable work experience and improve their resume and build some
basic interviewing skills. In this session we have a speaker
from IBM, one of the world's biggest companies, to provide you
with the information you need to get ahead… and get ahead NOW!

A DAY IN THE LIFE - COCA COLA

How many times have you told someone that your ultimate career
goal is to become a corporate exec but in reality you have no
idea what they do or what it took to get to their position. This
is the session where we're bringing a leading IT exec from Coca
Cola to the table & opening the curtains on what they do and how
you too can reach for the stars. They'll provide invaluable
insight into what their career looks like, what their current
role actually entails and what they feel has allowed them to
advance to this top tier of management.

THE INDUSTRY REPORT - WISETECH GLOBAL

Wisetech Global is one of Australia's leading IT innovators
disrupting the logistics industry & now moving into health care.
Their CEO, Richard White, has an incredible passion for driving
technological adoption from students. In this session he'll
provide you with realistic information about the skills,
qualifications & technologies you'll need to be proficient in,
in order to get the jobs in demand & the niche jobs that might
fascinate you the day you graduate.

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED - UNI RADAR & IT GENIUS AUSTRALIA

Two Young Gun Entrepreneurs illuminating the road less travelled
of entrepreneurship. They'll tell you how they made the leap,
what skills they needed and what you can do during your
university years to give you the best shot at starting your own
business.

With Kind Regards,
