What is SocMeet?
"SocMeet" is a networking meeting which is attended by representatives
of Sydney's leading employers and representatives of faculty student
societies from all of the metropolitan universities in Sydney. It
represents an opportunity for you to promote your Society and the
opportunities you have for employer involvement.

Who Should Attend?
We would like to invite your Society to send a suitable
representative(s) to SocMeet on Tuesday 13th March. To keep numbers to
a manageable level we are suggesting that each Society sends up to
three representatives. Who you send is entirely up to you - it may be
your President, your Sponsorships Secretary, your Employer Liaison
Manager etc.

Who else is being invited?
We have extended an open invitation to all employers in the Sydney
market to attend SocMeet so we anticipate a cross section of local and
national employers will be in attendance. We have also invited
representatives of faculty student societies from all of Sydney's
universities. So there is the prospect that we will have several
similar societies in attendance representing different Sydney
universities (e.g. a number of different Law Societies).

What is the Purpose of SocMeet?
The purpose of SocMeet is to build stronger links between employers and
student societies. Employers are interested in raising their profile on
campus and in attracting graduates into their workforce. They are
particularly interested in developing strong ties with student
societies which represent specific university faculties. Some of the
issues of importance to student societies are raising funds and
providing their members with access to future employment opportunities.
Our aim is to bring together employers and student societies at the
same event to understand how both groups may be able to work together
for mutually beneficial outcomes. We recognise that some student
societies already have ties with particular employers or industry
associations. These existing relationships will continue - SocMeet is
an opportunity for everyone to meet everyone else.

SocMeet is being organised by The Australian Association of Graduate
Employers (AAGE).

The Australian Association of Graduate Employers
The Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) is the peak
industry body representing employers that recruit and develop
Australian graduates. The AAGE is similar to a student society in that
we are a not-for-profit association funded entirely by our membership.
In the case of the AAGE, our members are all employers who share a
common interest in attracting, recruiting and developing graduates. The
AAGE has over 240 member organisations including a range of large,
medium and small employers from both the public and private sector. Our
members are drawn from a range of industries including engineering,
mining, professional services, law, banking, IT, government to name
just a few. Our members regularly recruit graduates from all Australian
universities. You can find out more information about the AAGE via our
website [5]www.aage.com.au
